Retired Birmingham Police Captain T.K. Thorne talked with In Focus host Carolyn Hutcheson in October 2021 about her research and documentation of early 1960s Civil Rights incidents in Alabama.  The stories have become legendary, yet the facts of the incidents were captured by eyewitnesses, as documented in her book, "Behind the Magic Curtain, Secrets, Spies, and Unsung White Allies of Birmingham's Civil Rights Days."  This is a re-broadcast of the 2021 program and is part of The Storyline book series.

When this interview was initially broadcast in August 2020, people were getting accustomed to the word “pandemic.” Archaeologist Teresa Paglione researched the spread of diseases brought from Europe to the New World, decimating the native populations. She talked with In Focus host Carolyn Hutcheson in this "History in Your Hands" segment, with input from the Alabama Archaeological Society.

In 2021, Barbara Tatom, Director of the Pioneer Museum of Alabama on Hwy. 231 north of Troy, talked with Carolyn Hutcheson, In Focus host, about the museum's history and its 20,000 artifacts that reflect the folklife of the 19th and early 20th centuries.  On. Oct. 13 and 14, the museum will observe Pioneer Days.  This fall, the museum and its outdoor features  are open Thursday to Saturday.
