His father was a page in the U.S. House of Representatives when Pearl Harbor was attacked Dec. 7, and President Roosevelt gave his "Day of Infamy" speech Dec. 8, 1941. The flag that flew over the House of Representatives was given to Morgan's great uncle, Congressman Luther Patrick, and the family had it preserved.
