In observance of Flag Day, In Focus brings the story of the U.S. Flag that flew over the U.S. House of Representatives the day that President F.D. Roosevelt addressed a joint session of Congress, Dec. 8, 1941, following the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Retired Colonel Bryan Morgan, who served as the State Judge Advocate for the Alabama Military Department, tells In Focus host Carolyn Hutcheson how his family came into possession of the flag.  His father, a Congressional page, and his uncle, U.S. Congressman Luther Patrick, both witnessed the historic presidential speech about "The Day of Infamy."

June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and Joseph Borg, Director of the Alabama Securities Commission talks with Carolyn Hutcheson, In Focus host, about the prevalence of financial exploitation inflicted on older citizens.  Alabama law requires that any financial professional licensed by the ASC report suspected financial abuse to the agency and to DHR.

The late River Region artist Priscilla Crommelin has been celebrated worldwide  for her impressionistic style of painting in  vibrant colors.  Her daughter, Priscilla Crommelin Ball, and grandddaughter, Priscilla Crommelin-Monnier McMullan, sat down with In Focus host Carolyn Hutcheson at Montgomery's Stonehenge Gallery, surrounded by her art in a special exhibit, which will be open to the public through June 17th.

True crime writer Mark Pinsky talks with In Focus host Carolyn Hutcheson about the circumstances surrounding the 2004 murders of Brent and Charlotte Springford of Montgomery by their son.  Pinsky investigated the missing piece of the story - that of a self-proclaimed female shaman, whose influence Brent, Jr. came under while living in Colorado.  Pinsky wrote the book, "Drifting into Darkness, Murder, Madness, Suicide, and a Death 'Under Suspicious Circumstances.'"

In Focus visited the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, where curator Jennifer Jankauskas and interdisciplinary artist Bayete' Ross Smith talked with host Carolyn Hutcheson about a new kind of art installation - Smith's "Got the Power: Boomboxes 2022."  The towering sculpture features music and recorded local voices and will be in the John and Joyce Caddell Sculpture Garden for the next three years.

At the Montgomery, Alabama, Zoo, Michelle Johnson, Conservation and Enrichment Manager, and Jen Hamilton, Zoo Keeper, talk about the two resident mother-daughter North American otters, the Lagoon Park cleanup, and World Otter Day festivities planned at the zoo May 25th.  Otters are an indicator species of the environmental water quality in lakes, streams, ponds, and swamps.

In early 2022, James Bullinger was an inaugural  inductee in the new Alabama Sports and Adventure Hall of Fame.  The Level Plains resident talked with Carolyn Hutcheson, In Focus host, about his decision ten years ago to lose weight and get physically active.  The venue he chose was outdoors, with extensive hiking and mountain climbing in the U.S. and abroad.  Bullinger is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, who has raised funds through his treks for the U.S. Army Aviation Museum
